Bioinformatician (f/m/d) in the field of Plant Genomics

The research group ‘Domestication Genomics’ investigates crop evolution and adaptation, focusing on how these processes shape genetic diversity in domesticated plants and their wild ancestors. Our research centers on temperate cereals—barley, wheat, rye, and oats—leveraging the extensive collections of these crops and their wild relatives housed in the German national genebank. As part of our genomic research, we develop, maintain and apply computational pipelines. 

 

Your tasks:

  • Developing and applying computational pipelines for genome sequence assembly, sequence alignment and population genomic analysis.
  • Comparing our in-house pipelines to alternatives, identifying weak spots and making necessary improvements.

Your qualifications and skills:

  • You hold an M.Sc. degree in a computational science such as bioinformatics, computer science or physics.
  • You have experience in software development or data science.
