Student/scientific assistant (f/m/d) for the Support in the preparation of trait observations from plant phenotyping experiments

The research group Bioinformatics and information technology  is responsible for research data management, the provision of information systemsand of infrastructures for data analysis as well as the administration of central IT infrastructure at the Institute. In this context, the research group offers scientific services for the publication, research and permanent provision of digital research results. This applies in particular to the publication of data from experiments on the recording of plant characteristics from a wide variety of measurement methods, some of which are highly automated. This position is intended to support the provision and publication of this data.

Your tasks:

  • collaboration in all necessary steps of the publication-ready preparation of phenotyping experiments and support in their submission to publication databases, such as e!DAL-PGP or European databases
  • transfer of data from individual scientist's records
  • acquisition, formatting and sample checking of correct notation
  • plausibility testing of values and sample metadata according to provided guidelines
  • active co-operation with our scientists in the revision and preparation of tabular data representations
  • research of specific information from the IPK internal laboratory information management system

Your qualifications and skills:

  • safe work with PCs under Microsoft Windows
  • experience in handling and working with tabular data preferably Microsoft Excel
  • background knowledge in the biology of plants and field trials is advantageous but not essential
  • basic knowledge of the English language
