Databases

The IPK stores a large volume of research results and information in various databases. The worldwide community can access much of this information online via various web-based user interfaces. The topics range from biological and plant resources to molecular biological data to weather information. The size of the data sets varies widely, all the way from single measurements to plant phenotype data sets of size reaching the hundreds of gigabytes. These web services of the Institute are an important component for the development of the IPK and the Federal Ex situ Gene Bank into a bio digital Resource Centre and enables FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable) access to the data.
